The second session of our Offbeat Exploration series, “Facing Orientation: Gender, Sex, and Identity” will take a closer look at the Story of Esther, how she and Vashti defied gender norms, the “coming out” portion of the story, challenge the typical costumes worn on Purim, as well as unmask our own biases.

*Best costume/mask wins a free #boulderjewcrew shirt
**Gender non-conforming costumes celebrated!

*This program will be facilitated by Rabbi Sarah Bracha Gershuny and BJTI Staff

Our Offbeat Exploration series for Spring 2016 focuses on the personal journey, “Who am I and where do I fit in?” Although you do not have to participate in all three series it is highly encouraged.  Within each 2-part series we will delve into understanding our own identities on a deeper level and how we are connected to the greater community at large. While keeping multiple Jewish lenses in mind throughout we will use several modalities such as media and technology, hands on activities, cross-cultural discussions, and peer led activities.
