Definition: Mishloach Manot, is one of the special Mitzvot of Purim. We fulfill this Mitzvah by sending a package of two types of food to a friend on Purim day.
Why? Queen Esther and Mordechai list this in the Megilla as instructions on how to celebrate Purim.
Deeper reason: The wicked Haman, who plotted to destroy the Jewish People, described them as “Scattered and spread apart.” When sending these special packages to our fellow Jews, we are combating Haman’s perception of our nation and promoting closeness and unity.
Mishloach Manot 2016. What to do:
1) Think
2) Gather
3) Send
4) Share
1) Think about someone you know who might not be otherwise receiving Mishloach Manot this Purim Holiday.
2) Gather two food items. They should be Kosher, such as fruits, nuts, drinks etc, and two distinct categories. (Such as a fruit and a drink.)
3) Send this package through hand delivery as soon as possible. Include a note describing Mishloach Manot, and encourage your friend to do the same.
4) Share with everyone (photos will be great) via your facebook page or anonymously via email boulderjudaism@gmail.com when you have sent off your package. The more sharing the more people will join!
Upon completion please challenge a friend to do the same.
