Musical Kabbalat Shabbat This Friday – Don’t Miss It

Are you looking for the perfect way to bring in Shabbat with the community this summer? Don’t miss Bonai Shalom’s Musical Kabbalat Shabbat!

The band is getting back together to bring you soulful Shabbat services with new and old music on guitar, mandolin, violin, flute, drums and our harmonious voices.  Live music will be played all through Kabbalat Shabbat and then our Maariv service will be a cappella.  Rabbi Marc will be joined by Jan Kirschner, Aron Friedman, Jenna Herbst, Jackie and Wayne Seltzer and others, leading the community in spirited singing! Stay for a community potluck dinner after the service (vegetarian, nut-free and labelled if possible.)  Bonai Shalom will provide home made challah, grape juice and some compostables. Feel free to bring your own food, drink and plates!

Service starts at 6:00 pm at Congregation Bonai Shalom

“It Started With Words” – Holocaust Survivors Give Stunning Testimonies To Mark Holocaust Remembrance Day

Before local anti-Jewish laws were enacted, before neighborhood shops and synagogues were destroyed, and before Jews were forced into ghettos, cattle cars, and camps, words were used to stoke the fires of hate. #ItStartedWithWords is a digital, Holocaust education campaign posting weekly videos of survivors from around the world reflecting on those moments that led up to the Holocaust – a period of time when they could not have predicted the ease with which their long-time neighbors, teachers, classmates, and colleagues would turn on them, transitioning from words of hate to acts of violence.
