Make Plans with ACE for Christmas Eve and First Night of Chanukah

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAWhat are you doing on Christmas Eve?

Unless you have a lame excuse such as a family vacation to exotic climes, you will be spending Christmas Eve among friends at the Boulder JCC. You will be eating Chinese food, of course. But here’s the new tradition ACE is kicking off: Our Christmas Eve party is also a klezmer concert starring Sheldon Sands, Faye Nepon, Eve Ilsen, Mark Megibow, Judy Megibow, and other local musicians.

Sheldon Sands is bringing Denver’s KlezFest to Boulder, cleverly renamed Klezmania.

What a crazy idea, right? Well, actually, some music friends in Denver thought of it a few years ago and it has become the place to be for Jews and their friends on this special night – when you just can’t get a table at your favorite Chinese restaurant. Denver’s concert is called KlezFest, so we chose something completely different: Klezmania.

Why am I telling you this in August? Well, first, so you don’t make other plans. Because there’s a catch to our first Klezmania. It happens to fall on the first night of Chanukah. Oh, and it’s a Saturday night. Starting to sound like a party, right?

Faye Nepon
Singer Faye Nepon is one of the local singers who will perform at Klezmania.

So save the date and join in the festivities. We might just make some more traditions in our new home. And if you have an amazing idea or just want to help plan the community celebration, contact Kathryn at kathryn@boulderjcc.org, 720-749-2530.
