Last Minute Addition: Son Of Saul

saul

Son of Saul” won the Golden Globe for best foreign film Sunday night and has just been nominated for an Oscar as well.

I have been chasing the ground-breaking Holocaust film, which won the Grand Prix at Cannes in May, since I saw the US premiere at the Telluride Film Festival in September. As I read article after article extolling the film’s revolutionary approach to depicting the hell of Auschwitz, I longed to be able to show and discuss it with my wonderful Boulder audience.

Persistence has paid off, and just as our printed program was about to go to press, the film became available to us. Since all our major slots are full, we have added an extra day to the festival, which now ends Monday, March 21 with two screenings in the Boe.

I will be writing more about this remarkable Hungarian drama from a first-time director, along with the other 18 titles in the festival, in coming weeks. For now, I direct your attention to some of the best articles.
