The Boulder Jewish Community Foundation (BJCF) is now accepting applications for 2016 Infrastructure Grants. These grants are designed to support Boulder County Jewish organizations with infrastructure related needs. These include, but are not limited to: assistance with underwriting of facility costs of an event; improvement or upgrade of a facility; or development or improvement of an online presence.
The BJCF has a Web-based grant application process. Previous grantee organizations will receive an invitation containing a link to the online application.
First-time applicants must be pre-qualified to apply for a grant. To pre-qualify, please send an email to email@example.com and include the following information:
- Organization name and location
- Contact name and email
- Evidence of IRS tax-exempt status for requesting organization or fiscal sponsor
The deadline to submit an application is 5pm on Monday, August 15, 2016.
Funds will be awarded in September 2016 for spending on projects in 2016 – 2017.
Before applying, please note:
- All grantees must be located in / or have services provided in Boulder County, Colorado
- All grantees must have proof of IRS federal tax-exempt status or have a fiscal agent/sponsor with proof of IRS federal tax-exempt status
- By submitting an application and accepting grant funds, the grantee agrees to provide the BJCF with a brief evaluation on the use of the funds and any matching amounts received
The BJCF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports the Boulder County Jewish community by providing funds to a number of social service agencies, programs, and organizations that care for people in need as well as sustain and enhance Jewish life. The mission of the BJCF has stayed the same since our inception in 1995 – To create a culture and environment where Jewish life will thrive for all members of the Boulder County Jewish Community. The Boulder Jewish Community Foundation (BJCF) was founded in 1995 with a mission to create “a gathering place where Jewish life will flourish.”
Early in our history we:
- acquired facilities for a Jewish preschool (1996),
- acquired a much larger facility for the Boulder Jewish Community Center (1999),
- raised $1 million for an endowment to support future operational (space) needs of the Boulder Jewish community, with the support of the Rose Community Foundation and the Allied Federation of Colorado (now JEWISHcolorado) (2002),
- spun off the Boulder Jewish Community Center into an independent charity (2005),
- helped incubate the:
- Boulder Jewish Community Calendar
- Boulder Jewish News
- Boulder Community Career Network (2011).
We have continued to expand our support to Jewish charities throughout Boulder County. The 2015 grants – totaling $13,900 – were made to 24 organizations.
- The Boulder Jewish Festival, Boulder JCC, and Boulder Jewish News received grants that were towards the higher end of the range as they fulfill broad community needs. The Boulder Jewish Festival Grant helps provides a “Tent” for all the Jewish organizations in the community. The Boulder JCC Grant assisted the Boulder JCC in their preschool and adult programs. The grant to the Boulder Jewish News helped to create and sustain a Community Calendar.
- Also funded were: nine synagogues, the Boulder Mikvah, CU Program for Jewish Studies, the 9 Health Fair @Boulder JCC, Hadassah, Haver, Menorah Adult Education, Jewish Family Services, Chevrah Kadisha, Sustainable Israeli/Palestinian Project, and Jewish-Together Boulder.
Since our organization currently has no employees and all work (including annual tax preparations) is performed on a volunteer basis, all funds available for allocation (100%) are distributed to community organizations. BJCF’s overhead fees are negligible and supported by individual contributions of Board members!
