Sandy Cohn z”l

star-of-davidSandy Cohn, wife of Larry Cohn, died in her sleep this morning. She was discharged from the hospital yesterday after a neck surgery and the cause of her death is not really known.

So many of us have been recipients of Sandy’s great kindness, dedication and activism at Bonai Shalom and beyond. She will be so sorely missed by so many.

The funeral is scheduled for 2:00 pm on Thursday with a service at Congregation Har HaShem’s main sanctuary, 3950 Baseline Road, followed by a grave side burial at Mountain View Cemetery, 3016 Kalmia Avenue, Boulder, 80301.

There will be shiva minyanim at the Cohn’s home, 4325 Clay Commons Court, 80303 at the following times:

  • Thursday April 3rd, 7:30 pm – (reserved for out of town family and friends)
  • Saturday April 5th, 9:00 pm
  • Sunday April 6th, 7:30 pm
  • Monday April 7th, 7:30 pm
  • Tuesday April 8th, 7:30 pm
  • Wednesday April 9th, 7:30 am  (shacharit minyan, which will end the shiva, followed by a traditional walk around the block)

As there are so many people on their way here, please respect Larry’s wishes to have the time after the funeral as well as the Thursday night shiva minyan be primarily for the close family and friends from out of town. The community’s support for shiva is requested from Saturday night and next week.

This is obviously a very sad and painful loss for Larry and please also respect the traditional mood of the shiva house, where we all take our lead from Larry and avoid it becoming too much of a social gathering. The mitzvah is nachum aveilim, which means the community offering our comforting presence to the mourners, sometimes silently. Thanks for your understanding.

If you would like to make Tzedakah donations in Sandy’s honor and memory, please direct them to one of the following places:

We pour out our heartfelt blessings of comfort to Larry and pray for the peace on Sandy’s soul as she makes her transition.

Alehah hashalom – peace on the gentle soul of Shulamit bat Pinchas v’Chaya

Hamakom y’nachem – blessings of strength and comfort to Sandy’s devoted, loving husband Larry and her sisters Debi and Lynne.

Blessings,
Rabbi Marc
