Young Adults, Ages 18-26, Can Take Free Trip to
Connect with Israelis and their Homeland
New York, NY: September 17, 2014 — Jewish National Fund (JNF) and Shorashim announced today that their partnership continues in bringing young adults to Israel through the Taglit-Birthright Israel: Shorashim-JNF Israel Adventure program for winter 2014-15 and that registration is now open.
More than 5,000 participants have taken part in the Taglit-Birthright Israel: Shorashim-JNF Israel Adventure free, 10-day tour of Israel over the past five years. Taglit-Birthright Israel provides the gift of a peer-group, educational experience to Israel for Jewish young adults, ages 18 to 26. Participants travel throughout the country, exploring sites of historic, cultural, and religious significance. All Shorashim groups travel with Israeli participants for the entire trip.
One of the hallmarks of the Taglit-Birthright Israel: Shorashim-JNF Israel Adventure trips is that Israeli peers participate on the trip for the full 10 days, alongside their American counterparts. This allows for long-term friendships and bonds to form that last long after everyone goes back to their regular lives,” said Anne Greenspoon, JNF Associate Director of Israel Advocacy and Education.
“Having Israelis on the trip for all 10 days allows the American participants to experience and see Israel through their eyes and see the country in a different light,” said Michael Waitz, North American Director of Shorashim. “Now, more than ever, it is so important that more Jewish young adults visit Israel. Our staff and the Israelis add their own perspectives, giving participants a taste of what Israel has to offer, which makes them want to come back.”
Registration for this free adventure opened this week for trips leaving this winter from New York City.
Taglit-Birthright Israel: Shorashim-JNF Israel Adventure participants experience the awesome adventure of Israel from the inside, through the eyes and hearts of Israeli participants. Trips last 10 days and include interaction with Israeli young people and staff who share the beauty, excitement and complexities of their country with American Jewish young adults. The trip is a gift from Taglit-Birthright Israel. For more information or to register, visit www.israelwithisraelis.com.
