Henny Kaufmann To Receive Federation’s Golda Meir Award

Henny KaufmannAllied Jewish Federation of Colorado’s (Federation) Jewish Women’s Philanthropy Center (JWPC) will present its 33rd Annual Golda Meir Award to Henny Kaufmann at a lunch to be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2013.  The “Golda” is presented bi-annually to a local Jewish woman who exemplifies extraordinary leadership, involvement, and support of the Federation, as well as an outstanding ability to inspire others to become passionate about the Federation’s mission.

Henny has supported the Colorado Jewish community for many years,” said Judy Altenberg, Jewish Women’s Philanthropy Center Chair.  “She truly has made volunteerism her profession and the Jewish community her focus.”

Henny was part of the team that coordinated volunteers for the first General Assembly in Denver in 1995. She has co-chaired a number of local events including Federation’s CHOICES, Rejuvenation for Hillel of Colorado, and fundraisers for Chai for Domestic Abuse. Henny also co-chaired focus groups for Temple Emanuel in preparation for their search for a new rabbi. She has been involved with the Temple Emanuel Sisterhood for a number of years, including serving at the President of the Sisterhood. Additionally, Henny served as the President of Temple Emanuel for two years.

Receiving the Golda Meir Award is truly the culmination of Henny’s passion.

Anyone who speaks to Henny knows that she believes strongly in several Jewish concepts, which carry through in her giving and volunteerism,” Federation’s Coordinating Council Chair, Nancy Gart, said. “L’dor v’dor, from generation to generation. Tzedakah, charitable giving and Tikkun Olam, repairing the world. Henny is truly committed to each of these ideas.”

Henny is a community leader and an inspiring wife, mother, grandmother, and Jewish woman. A third generation Denverite, Henny has been a member of the Lion of Judah, Mountain Lions, since 1995 and endowed her gift in 2007 to become a LOJE because of her deep commitment to the Colorado Jewish community and the belief that it must be sustained.
