A Purim 4 Questions for Showman Mark Hellerstein

Hellerstein Vent photos by Hartmann 3-06 006Tell us a little about yourself? I am a Denver native.  Prior to my career as a ventriloquist I was a CPA and later CEO of a $2.5 billion NYSE company.  I found performing at Purim parties and birthdays to be much more lucrative.

What will you be doing at the Purim in the Big Apple show at the Louisville Recreation Center?   For the Purim program I will have a magical presentation of the Purim story, together with the recreation of the classic story of Frankenstein, done in melodrama style with lots of laughs and fun.

What is the strangest thing that has ever happened to you at any of your shows?  I often where a vest and bow tie for my shows.  At a presentation at a local country club, just prior to the show one of the guests asked me to get her some ice tea, thinking I was a waiter.

What is your favorite part of Purim?  I have always loved stories told in melodrama style, so I enjoy the groggers when Hamen’s name is mentioned.

Come join the fun!  Participate in Mark Hellerstein’s Cool Purim Shtick this Sunday, February 24 at the Purim in the Big Apple Celebration at the Louisville Recreation Center from 3-5:30 pm.  For more information visit: chabadofboulder.com/purim.
