The opportunity for a comprehensive check of your health in a convenient setting is just around the corner!  Did you know that you could get free screenings and low cost, complete blood work at a 9Health Fair? The 9Health Fair isn’t your average health fair… you get real services, support and screenings by specialists.

The Boulder JCC is proud to once again host a 9Health Fair on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 from 7:00 am – Noon.

The Boulder JCC has been a 9Health Fair site for over 11 years. Last year, close to 650 participants came to the Boulder JCC for low-cost blood work and free health screenings. Why? The 9Health Fair is a safe, friendly and affordable way for people in our community to learn more about their health.

Basic screenings at the 9Health Fair include a 29 component blood chemistry for $30, which gives you information on your blood sugar (glucose), cholesterol, triglycerides, liver, kidney, bone and muscle function and may show warning signs of diabetes, heart disease and other concerns.  Other low-cost screenings include a $25 Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) screening for men, a $15 Blood Count screening, a $40 Vitamin D screening, a $25 Hemoglobin A1C screening and a $20 Colon Cancer Screening Take Home Kit, which checks for colon cancer.

New this year – the Boulder JCC is one of only a few sites in Boulder to offer a new Gluten Sensitivity Blood Test, a blood test (Cost is $45) which can identify whether a person is sensitive to gluten. If you are planning to take this test, you must have gluten in your diet for 4 -6 weeks prior to taking the test.

The JCC location will also offer many other free and low cost health screenings including blood pressure, skin, hearing, oral, foot and bone density screenings. For current information on our site’s offerings, please go to www.9healthfair.org.

The Boulder JCC is proud to host the 9Health Fair, as there are many people who could not afford these screenings otherwise. It’s extremely valuable to take control of your health and we are happy to make that possible.” said Jonathan Lev, Executive Director of the Boulder JCC.

In order to receive the most accurate results you should fast (DO NOT EAT ANYTHING OR DRINK LIQUIDS WITH SUGAR OR CREAM IN THEM) for 12 hours prior to attending a health fair. Drink plenty of water during your 12 hour fast and continue to take your regular medications. If you are diabetic, do not fast.

This is a green event and we encourage our participants and volunteers to bring their own water bottles.

Screenings are limited and will close promptly at noon, so please arrive early.

BJCC Logo - BlueOnline pre-registration for the 9Health Fair is available now!   This will allow you to bypass the registration and cashier lines the day of the fair and will allow you to receive your results electronically which is typically twice as fast as mailed results.  To register online, go to https://onlinereg.9healthfair.org

We are able to offer these valuable screenings with the help of over 120 volunteers and our partner, Boulder Medical Center. If you have any questions or are interested in volunteering, please contact Shari at shari@boulderjcc.org.
