Week in Review: December 21st, 2012

bjn-logo8-200x200-blueShabbat shalom!

If you are reading this email, then the world hasn’t ended (yet).

It has only been a week since the last Week in Review, though it feels like much has changed. The last days of Chanukah were marred by the massacre in Connecticut. Perhaps because of Columbine and the Aurora shooting just this summer, we feel it deeply in Colorado.  The families in Connecticut are much like ours. They chose that place – Newtown – for safety, for good schools, for community. They sound like us. Our hearts break with theirs.

Several funds have been set up to provide support services for the families affected. Click here for the United Way fund, which will support all families, and click here for Noah’s Ark of Hope Fund, which will support the Pozner family (these are not endorsements, only links; many funds have been established, check for legitimacy).

Today marks the winter solstice and the darkest day of the year. We are looking forward to more light!

About Editor

I'm David Fellows, and I've served as a writer, photographer and/or an editor on my junior high and high school newspapers; the Daily Trojan at USC (where I earned my journalism degree); the student newspaper at the Anderson School at UCLA (where I earned my MBA); and I've written and edited countless business documents and presentations in the ensuing twenty years. I was also a professional photographer from 1978 to 1988 (although you never really stop...). I've been involved Jewishly since my bris and in Boulder since 1995. I'm married to my Executive Director Cheryl, and we have two children, Lauren and Ethan.
