Community Purim Celebration Sees Record Turnout

Thank you to everyone who participated in last Sunday’s 9th annual Boulder Community Purim Carnival. This family event utilized nearly every inch of the Boulder JCC and included carnival games, a jumping castle and opportunities for community service.

Many children and adults came dressed in costume and Eydie Cady, of Fanciful Faces added her artistic touch with the very popular face painting booth. The Boulder Hebrew High students were on hand running booths as well as adding to the program by acting out their very own Purim Shpiel. Rachel Cole gave a great performance and added to the festive atmosphere by performing Purim songs and getting the kids involved with props and singing. And with the beautiful weather, many families spent a good portion of the day enjoying the bouncy castle and sunshine outside. Falafel King sandwiches, pizza and hamentaschen were enjoyed by families who came together to celebrate as a community.

This community program would not be possible without many dedicated volunteers and sponsors. The Boulder JCC would like to thank Karli Sherwinter and Jodi Basch for once again, spearheading this effort. Thanks also to the Allied Jewish Federation of Colorado, Beth Ami, Congregation Bonai Shalom, the Boulder JCC Preschool, JCC Ranch Camp, Ramah Outdoor Adventure and Nevei Kodesh for co-sponsoring the program with the Boulder JCC. Many thanks to our CU student volunteers from Hillel and AEPi. A hearty yasher koach (job well done) to Rabbi Gavriel Goldfeder of Kehillath Aish Kodesh for running a mishloach manot booth (making Purim bags for friends and family) and Chany Scheiner of Chabad Lubavitch of Boulder County for running a beautiful Purim mask-making craft.

The Boulder JCC will continue to collect college T-shirts for students at Sanchez Elementary School in Lafayette through the end of the month. To participate, please drop by the JCC during business hours and leave a youth large to adult small-sized T-shirt in the box at the front entrance.
