Shabbat Shalom! This was a big week in New York- and Israel-related news, starting with Menorah’s successful New York, New York event; the opening of the UN General Assembly in New York finally arriving, bringing the issue of a Palestinian statehood resolution to a head; the Durban III Conference; roiling events Israel’s relations with Egypt and Turkey to name but a few. To stay on top of things with one click, here is a link to JTA’s Middle East Page (which can be subscribed to via RSS). Of course, you can also keep up with the latest ten stories from JTA with story links just by visiting the BJN home page. Scroll down to the bottom of the website, to the section with a blue background. The top stories are links in that section.
And all this just in time for the start of the High Holidays season next week. Erev Rosh Hashanah is Wednesday night, and you can check out local holiday coverage for 5772 right here.
We welcome a new CU intern this week, starting just about with the start of 5772, Stevie Kreimendahl (@JewishBro on the twitters). Stevie is a freshman from the Boston area. Look for his updates about Jewish CU and welcome him to our community!
In the spirit of Elul we ask for your forgiveness, gentle readers, for postings which offended you during the past year. We know by your comments that sometimes we have not lived up to your standards and for that we are sorry. We also apologize for a couple of glitches in the daily email this past week (techno surprises). Some posts may have been repeated – please be sure to scan through this week’s list of articles (in this article) in case you missed any. Finally, we will apologize in advance if the new “You May Also Like. . .” tool doesn’t always suggest articles you would like.
A heads up for next week; due to Rosh Hashanah, Boulder Jewish News will not be publishing new content after Tuesday night; our deadline for submissions will be 5:00 pm Tuesday September 27th. We will resume posting new content after next Shabbat, October 1st. Get in the spirit with a few nifty videos making rounds online – including the new Maccabeats video – watch them on the Boulder Jewish News home page!
Have a great weekend and Shana Tova Umetuka!
