Talmud Lunch and Learn

With Rabbi March Soloway: Wednesdays, March 2, 9, 16, 23 and April 6, 13, 12:00 – 1:00 pm

Meet with Rabbi Marc in the Bet Am; bring a kosher ‘brown bag’ lunch if you’d like, as we study and discuss a portion of Talmud each week. We are continuing our study of Tractate Megillah. Newcomer’s welcome! Pre-registration NOT required for this class.

Series on the Five Megillot: Book of Esther

With Morah Yehudis Fishman, Thursday, March 3, 7-8:30
We will take an in-depth look at The Book of Esther, the special scriptural scroll read and studied during Purim. Our study will focus on

  • Midrashic & Chassidic perspectives on these Megillot
  • Connection to the time of year they’re studied
  • Personal relevance to our lives

Suggested Donation: $5-members, $10–non-members

Morah Yehudis Fishman has been teaching Torah and Chassidic writings for over forty years to students of all ages and backgrounds, both on the east coast and the Midwest.  She has been a director of several Jewish organizations in Santa Fe and Colorado.  Her articles and poetry, on a wide variety of Jewish interests, have been printed in many publications as well as on the web.

Hebrew Aleph-Bet: Revealing the Power of Words

with Morah Yehudis Fishman, March 24, April 7 & 28, 6:45 pm – 8:00 pm
In this class we will take a look at the multi-faceted mysteries of the Hebrew Alphabet, in terms of their meanings, shapes, numeric significance and energetic qualities, especially as they relate to Hebrew words and Hebrew names. We will examine two letters a week, and you will emerge with a profound respect and understanding for these letters, which form the spiritual DNA of Judaism.

Sunday Morning Learning with Rabbi Marc Soloway, 10 am – noon

Special Note: This class will be held at 1459 Cherryvale Road, Boulder
This is a perfect opportunity for religious school parents to meet while your child(ren) are in school, and classes are open to all. March 6 – Jewish Literacy: Everything you’ve always wanted to know about Judaism but were too afraid to ask. Learn how to navigate the rich territory of Jewish literature from the Tanach (Hebrew Bible) to the Talmud and beyond, and ask all of those questions that you have always wondered about.

Scholar in Residence Naomi Levy – Special Shabbaton. March 11th and 12th

Rabbi Levy is the author of three books, the founder of Nashuva, a Jewish spiritual movement in LA, and was in the first class of women entering the rabbinic program at Jewish Theological Seminary. Rabbi Levy has appeared on NBC’s Today Show and on Oprah, and has been featured in Parade , Redbook, and Los Angeles magazines. Everyone who sees Rabbi Levy will be touched by her wisdom, humility and compassion.

  • 8:45 Talk by Naomi open to the public – “Letting Hope In”

Saturday Day/Night

  • Shabbat morning: 9:30 – 12:15 services followed by a Kiddish lunch
  • Mincha at 5:00
  • Seudah Shlishit (third meal of Shabbat) with teachings by Naomi – “The Power of Prayer” at 5:30
  • Havdallah at 6:45
  • Book Signing to follow Havdallah at Bonai Shalom

20th Century Jewish Thinker Series: Reb Zalman

With Rabbi Marc Soloway and Maggid Charna Rosenholtz. Sunday, April 10th 6:30 – 8:00 pm
Jewish with Feeling: We will take a journey into the heart and soul of Reb’s Zalman’s thought and practice of Judaism. Copies of his book, Jewish with Feeling, written with Joel Segel, are available at the Bonai office; the class would be enhanced if you perused the book before this class. These books are available for those who pre-register. Rabbi Marc and Charna, both students of Reb Zalman, have a treasure trove of teachings and perspectives that will enhance this class.
