On Saturday, July 9th at 3:00pm Ren Margolis-Dubow will celebrate his Bar Mitzvah at the East Boulder Community Center with the Beth Ami CCHJ. Ren sees himself as a modern-day kid who has enjoyed learning his Torah portion. King Balak and Balaam, a peasant soothsayer are the two main characters in Ren’s parsha. King Balak takes Balaam to three different places hoping Balaam will curse the Israelites. Instead Balaam blesses them.
Ren has thoughtfully written a d’var torah reflecting its lessons in morality. He has identified the important values of ometz or courage and tzedek or justice. In addition, he discovered how he uses these values in his everyday life.
The Beth Ami community proudly joins with Ren and his family in celebrating this life cycle event.
Humanistic Judaism is a voice for Jews who value their Jewish identity and who seek an alternative to conventional Judaism. Humanistic Judaism affirms the right of individuals to shape their own lives independent of supernatural authority. Beth Ami, Colorado Congregation for Humanistic Judaism, is a welcoming community where we connect to Jewish past, celebrate Jewish present and link to Jewish future through a humanistic philosophy.
