The Boulder Jewish community paid tribute to Debbie Friedman and her legacy of modern Jewish music during a special concert Sunday night filled with songs, stories, and teachings. Six of Boulder’s community spiritual leaders gave moving personal tributes to Friedman, including stories of their personal encounters with Friedman.
Friedman’s internationally-known music has brought together millions of people across movement affiliation and generations to create a new way to relate to Jewish music and prayer.
Rabbi Josh Rose, Rabbi Deborah Bronstein, Cantorial Soloist Holli Berman, Reb Nadya Gross, Rabbi Marc Soloway, Rabbi Gavriel Goldfeder, and the Har HaShem band, Or Zimrah all performed, singly and together, a range of Friedman’s music and prayers. The amazing evening concluded with the rabbis leading the community in learning Friedman’s last composition — led by Debbie Friedman herself from a recording made at her last appearance (see video below).
