Former Israeli Diplomat Speaks at BJCC

Shahar Azani with Yona Eshkenazi, Executive Director of Stand With Us Colorado

StandWithUs Colorado brought Guest Speaker Shahar Azani , Director of External Affairs at the IDF Widows and Orphans Organization (IDFWO) in Israel, former Consul for Culture, Media and Public Affairs at the Israeli Consulate in Los Angeles and the Foreign Ministry’s deputy spokesperson in Jerusalem, to speak at the Boulder Jewish Community Center Sunday night.  His topic was INSIGHTS FROM THE INSIDE: WILL THERE EVER BE PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST?

Azani’s talk was centered around his experiences as an Israeli diplomat in Kenya and Los Angeles, and his efforts to do “people-to-people” engagement wherever and whenever he could.  His perspective on the talk’s title question is that peace will only come to Palestine after at least two years of public education and public preparation within the West Bank and Gaza to prepare the Palestinian populace for peaceful resolution of issues through negotiations, and to counteract the pervasive anti-Israel and anti-Semitic education and propaganda that began after Oslo.

The event was co-sponsored by JCC Boulder and Stand By Israel.  For more information about StandWithUs and their speaking tours, please contact Colorado Executive Director Yona Eshkenazi at yona@standwithus.com.
