Combat “Israel Apartheid Week” in Colorado

Israel Apartheid Week (IAW)” is an international campaign focused on the spreading of anti-Israel propaganda and the gathering of support for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement against Israel (BDS.)

This international campaign against Israel is occurring during the entire month of March on Colorado campuses and throughout our community and StandWithUs Colorado is currently working hard to counter it.

StandWithUs (SWU) is countering IAW in a number of ways. This week investigative journalist Joel Mowbray will speak to high school and college students in Colorado about the real impediments to peace in the Middle East, and he will facilitate an Israel advocacy training session on Sunday, March 13 from 2-4 pm at Kohelet located at 428 S. Forest Street in Denver.  On April 3rd and 4th SWU Colorado is bringing veteran Israeli diplomat Shahar Azani to Colorado to speak both on campus and to the community. More information to follow.

SWU Colorado has reached out to help local college students prepare for talks on several campuses by Palestinian activist Dr. Mazin Qumsiyeh.  “In his talk Dr. Qumsiyeh states that he can only support a peace process which would guarantee the “right of return” for all Palestinian refugees, which means the destruction of Israel by demography. He lies outright about Zionism and its goals, stating that Zionism’s intention was the taking of all the land between the Nile and the Euphrates and the creation of a Jewish-only state on that land,” says Yona Eshkenazi, Director of SWU Colorado, who attended two of the talks. Qumsiyeh is speaking at CU Denver, CU Boulder and at DU.

StandWithUs has many materials for students and community members that can help them respond effectively to “Israel Apartheid Week”, including topical fliers and signs which can easily be downloaded.  All may be found on the right-hand side of the homepage at

StandWithUs has also produced a new video, “Say No to BDS”, an exposé of the true purpose of BDS. The film has garnered thousands of views, and students will be able to make excellent use of it.

Additionally, StandWithUs created a Web site specific to BDS: and a password-protected site filled with resources for students:

  1. why? Israel is an apartheid state. Instead of fighting this Israel should focus on changing its behaviour towards its residents.
