Baruch dayan ha’emet. I am very sad to bring the news that Belle Weissman breathed her last breaths at about 4am today. Some of you know that she had been recently diagnosed with liver cancer and her illness progressed quickly. Belle suffered little in her last days and was at peace in the very loving care of her daughter Carol and hospice, and she died at home. Those of us who knew Belle are so blessed to have had her in our lives and we at Bonai Shalom are so grateful for all that she did for us in the sisterhood and beyond. Belle was a strong, tenacious and loving woman whose presence will be greatly missed. Belle will be buried in Windsor, Ontario, Canada in the community that her family helped to found and where many of them are buried too. We will keep you informed of any shiva services or memorials back in Boulder.
Alehah hashalom – Peace on Belle’s soul as she makes her transition. May she be protected and guided by angels on her journey.
Hamakom y’nachem – strength and comfort to Belle’s daughter Carol and all the family in their mourning.
Today is Rosh Hodesh Nissan – the new moon. It is a monthly holiday, which has a special connection to women and seems such an appropriate day in our calendar for Belle to leave the physical world. May her memory be a blessing.
