Local Food Drive at Yom Kippur

Four Boulder-area synagogues are collecting food at their Yom Kippur services (begins Friday, September 17).  The donated food will go to Emergency Family Assistance Association (EFAA).

The synagogues are:

  • Congregation Bonai Shalom
  • Congregation Har HaShem
  • Pardes Levavot
  • Nevei Kodesh

Collection bags/boxes will be set up at the locations of services. The foods that would be the most helpful are canned fruits, fruit juice, hot or cold cereal, tuna, peanut butter, and pasta sauce. Donations may also be made directly to EFAA.

* Some locations may also be collecting non-food donations; check with the organizations for specifics. A list of needed items is at http://boulderoem.org/emergency-status.

About Staff

They call me "NewsHound IV," because I'm a clever Finnegan, sniffing out stories all over the Boulder area. I love Jewish holidays because the food is GREAT, especially the brisket. Well all the food. I was a rescue pup and glad to be on the scent!

Tishrei Tidbits – Yom Kippur

How do I know Judaism is still alive and well? More people go to synagogue for Kol NIdrei than any other time of the year- and there’s no food served for at least twenty four hours!
