Girls Just Want to Have Fun: Ladies Movie Nite!

Toni Collette and Cameron Diaz

Kick up your (high) heels and kick back some cosmos as we get ready for chick-lit author Jennifer Weiner’s appearance at CHOICES!

Okay Ladies – it is time to gather up all the important women in your life, leave the boys at home and head to the Boulder JCC for “In Her Shoes” starring Cameron Diaz, Toni Collette and Shirley MacClaine.

This event is in anticipation of the Allied Jewish Federation’s Annual CHOICES women’s luncheon, February 17 at the new Sheraton Hotel in Denver, featuring best-selling author Jennifer Weiner. Join us to enjoy the feel-good female-bonding fable, sip cosmos, nibble on appetizers and dessert, win door prizes by playing a chick flick trivia contest, and enjoy the company of your gal pals – an entertaining and fun night out for all women. WEAR YOUR FAVORITE SHOES!!!

About the movie:

Curtis Hanson (L.A. Confidential, Wonder Boys) has taken Jennifer Weiner’s novel of the same name—a chick-lit touchstone—and transformed its characters into wondrously affecting, funny humans. Working with actors wildly diverse in style, looks, and manner, Hanson makes their family dynamic believable: Cameraon Diaz and Toni Collette play different-as-night-and-day sisters, Shirley MacLaine the Jewish grandmother they barely knew they had.
—Ken Tucker, New York Magazine

“In Her Shoes” is a high-powered drama about deep divisions within a family, healing those divisions and some very funny things that happen along the way. The balance of comedy and drama is a difficult one, but this film does a perfect balancing job. It manages to have the audience laughing and crying at about the same time.” — Robert Roten

Tuesday, January 12, 6:30 pm – 9 pm at the Boulder JCC. $10 per person (includes cosmos, appetizers and dessert). RSVP requested by Friday, January 8: kathryn@boulderjcc.org, or sign up on line at www.boulderjcc.org

Co-sponsored by Shalom Family, Maimonides Wellness Center and Allied Jewish Federation.
