BJDS Celebrates 15th, Linksy and Bilavsky

The community turned out in force on Sunday to celebrate our Boulder Jewish Day School’s 15th anniversary, presenting thanks and awards to founder and board member Dr. Jeffrey Linsky and outgoing Head of School Shoshi Bilavsky.

The event was held at the home of Edmond and Marla Shapiro and while arriving guests were entertained by family musical duo Judy and Mark Megibow, their children were entertained by BJDS teachers and parents.  After a suitable schmooze time, guests were ushered into the spacious and airy basement for the afternoon program.  Outgoing Board President Brian Seigal acted as Master of Ceremonies, and remarks, prayers and presentations were offered by incoming Board President Stephen Huh, Rabbi Marc Soloway, Dr. Phil Rosenblum, Dr. Jeff Linsky, the students and staff of BJDS, Morah Yehudis Fishman, and Shoshi Bilavsky.

The students performed several songs of thanks and farewell to Shoshi, and each class gave her a present to take with her to her new home in Seattle, Washington.  The BJDS presented certificates of tree circles planted in Israel to both Dr. Linsky and Shoshi.  The afternoon was capped by the cutting of the large birthday cake, much to the delight of the assembled children.

About Staff

They call me "NewsHound IV," because I'm a clever Finnegan, sniffing out stories all over the Boulder area. I love Jewish holidays because the food is GREAT, especially the brisket. Well all the food. I was a rescue pup and glad to be on the scent!
