The Bible Raps Project came to Boulder’s Hebrew High Wednesday night, and the place was rockin’ to the Hip Hop beat. Matt Bar and Ori Salzberg, who make up the Bible Raps Project on tour, performed several raps for the student body of Hebrew High. The pair also brought a portable recording studio and helped the 11th and 12th graders compose and record their own rap about going to and connecting with Israel.
The 14 upper-classmen then performed their song, lip-syncing to the recording they had made earlier. See our slide show below plus videos of Matt and Ori performing “Not White, I’m Jewish” and the Boulder Hebrew High original, “Israel: Here We Come Y’All” rap.
The Bible Raps Project is an innovative educational tool that uses rap and hip hop to enliven the core Jewish texts. It is designed to make the tradition more appealing and more accessible through the use of technology, rhythm and rhyme.
This program was made possible by 18 Pomegranates, and The Bible Raps Project appear again in Boulder at the Chidush Awards event Thursday night, April 22nd. For more details on that event, please see our article here.
