“We’re having a holy hootenanny,”  exclaimed Kathryn Bernheimer, partway through Saturday night’s Celebration of Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach.  Rabbis Zalman Schachter-Shalomi, Marc Soloway, Gavriel Goldfeder, Tirzah Firestone, Victor and Nadya Gross, Ori Har, Henoch Dov (Howard) Hoffman, Morah Yehudis Fishman and others joined together for a moving program that incorporated film clips, stories (by and about Reb Shlomo), poetry and song.

MoVeRs Program LogoAbout 75 guests braved the wintry weather to participate, dance and sing along, including “Reb Shlomo Karaoke” also known as “Carle-oke.” Stories ranged from around the globe, including anecdotes of Reb Shlomo’s teachings and spiritual leadership over several decades and throughout the world.

“Wherever you go, you will hear his melodies. . . May we be good stewards of his legacy.”  — Reb Zalman

Our reporting cannot capture the moving stories told, however, as part of the MoVeRs series of programs, the event was recorded and audio will be available online shortly.
