Vayechi (Genesis 47:28 – 50:26) means “and he lived” and is the last parsha of the first book of Torah. It refers to life and yet both Jacob and Joseph die in the story indicating perhaps that there is life in death. We end each book of Torah with a blessing of strength, perhaps here asking that we have the strength to see life in death.
