Rabbi Deborah Bronstein to Receive Honorary Doctorate in March

Rabbi Emeritas Deborah Ruth Bronstein

Rabbi Deborah Bronstein, Rabbi Emerita of Congregation Har HaShem, has been a dynamic force in our community and congregation. A few years ago, Rabbi Bronstein was to receive her Doctor of Divinity degree, honoris causa, from the Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion after serving as a rabbi for 25 years. Due to her health concerns at the time, she was unable to join her classmates to receive the degree.

It is time to make up for that absence. We are delighted to announce that Rabbi Aaron Panken, PhD, President of HUC-JIR, will be joining us for services Friday, March 10, to award Rabbi Bronstein her honorary doctorate.

We are grateful to the Women of Har HaShem to help organize the oneg and dinner relating to this Shabbat experience.

ONEG will be at 5:15 pm in the Social Hall
SERVICES will be at 6:00 pm in the Sanctuary
DINNER (RSVP required, $25 per person) will be immediately following services. RSVP for dinner here.

Dinner will be catered by Community Table Kitchen, a Ready to Work program provided by Bridge House, training homeless individuals in the catering industry and leading them to self-sufficiency. RSVP for dinner here.

In honor of Rabbi Bronstein, we hope that you will consider making an additional act of tzedakah to the Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion. It is our hope that we can contribute to the L’dor Vador Scholarship Fund which honors HUC-JIR alumni for their 25 years of dedicated service to the Jewish People. Through this project, the College – Institute is able to recognize in perpetuity, the name of each participating alum honoree for contributions that reach $1,800. Click here to make a contribution.

Thank you to the Women of Har HaShem for putting together this wonderful celebration in honor of Rabbi Bronstein.
