“Crayons to Calculators” Mitzvah Project

The Boulder Jewish Community is once again joining together for the community-wide mitzvah project “Crayons to Calculators” school supply drive.

With the high costs of school supplies, purchasing supplies presents challenges to many economically disadvantaged families in the Boulder Valley and St. Vrain school districts. The goal of this project is to increase community support of children in need and ensure that all students start school with the supplies they need to succeed. For the 2011-12 school year, the program will fulfill the needs of nearly 8,000 students!

We Need You!

In last year’s Corporate Challenge, the Jewish community purchased and stuffed over 200 backpacks to win an Honorable Mention. Our goal is help even more students this year!

Through the generosity of the 18 Pomegranates Foundation and the Oreg Foundation, we are once again able to purchase backpacks! We are asking for your help in filling these backpacks with supplies, or purchasing a non-gender specific backpack and/or supplies. To see the list of supplies needed, click here.

If you don’t have time to shop, please consider a donation and we’ll shop for you! Please send a tax-deductible check to: Crayons to Calculators project, c/o Boulder JCC, 3800 Kalmia Ave, Boulder, CO 80301. (Checks should be made payable to Boulder JCC and marked for Crayons to Calculators in the memo).

We All Scream For Ice Cream!

We need your help stuffing the packs! The Boulder JCC will be hosting a stuffing party and ice cream social on Tuesday, August 2 from 5 – 6:30 pm at the Boulder JCC. We’ll stuff the packs while enjoying some delicious Glacier ice cream (Kosher ice cream will also be available).
