Sara bat Shmuel vChassida Agassi, mother of Ahuva Batz and a dear friend of many at Congregation Bonai Shalom, died very early Sunday morning in Tel Aviv. There, she spent the last several months in the good care of her daughter and son in-law, Ruti and Tony Heymann.
Chayyei Sara honored that of her biblical namesake. A daughter of eretz Yisrael, Sara and husband Meir Batz were pioneers of the State of Israel and particularly the Be’er Sheva region. Her many achievements include teaching Hebrew to thousands of the State’s new immigrants and all its citizens wanting to learn. A taste of her vivacious teaching style and charm was enjoyed by many in Boulder ’s Jewish community during her month long “mini-ulpans” in 2004, ’05 and ’06.
Five wonderful and accomplished daughters, sons and their families carry on Sara’s devotion to Israel , and her loving and undefeatable spirit. Certainly, the memory of her will be a blessing upon all the House of Israel. Baruch dayan emet.
