Led largely by housewives and students, the campaign to free Soviet Jewry is considered the most successful human rights campaign of all time – and one of the proudest chapters in Jewish history. Told through the eyes of activists on both sides of the Iron Curtain, this stirring film weaves a tapestry of first-person accounts of heroism, sacrifice, and ultimately, liberation, and is the first retrospective documentary to chronicle the thirty-year movement to free Soviet Jews. This event is part of the MoVeRs series of programs and honors Boulder Action for Soviet Jewry for its part in the campaign.

The Festival of Books and Culture is sponsored by Menorah, BoulderJCC Library, BoulderJCC Shalom Family, Shalom Baby, MoVeRs, Jewish Book Council, 18 Pomegranates, Rose Community Foundation, SCFD, Allied Jewish Federation of Colorado, and ADL.

About Staff

They call me "NewsHound Too," because I'm sniffing out stories all over the Boulder area. My buddies know me as "Rocky." I love Jewish holidays because the food is GREAT, especially the brisket. Well all the food. I was adopted from the Humane Society of Boulder Valley and have many friends there also looking for homes.
